Kowalenko Consulting Group (KCG) addresses environmental and real estate planning from a multi-disciplinary perspective with comprehensive solutions to environmental regulation, asbestos and lead control, and waste disposal. KCG environmental engineers, scientists, and planners perform Environmental Site Assessments, Phases I (historical land use research), II (sampling for suspected environmental contaminants), and III (remediation planning and oversight). KCG facilitates for each client a successful outcome to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) No Further Remediation (NFR) process.

KCG professional staff provide contract management expertise. Engineering and field staff conduct onsite field inspections for construction and renovation projects representing client interests. Responsibilities include construction oversight, document management, communication between architects, engineers, and client, scheduling and change orders reviews, and timely submittal of project documents.

KCG also provides environmental risk management as well as project management in remediation situations. Assignments include peer review of construction or environmental remediation efforts conducted by other entities or companies. • Public Building Commission (PBC) – Best Practices review of previously conducted demolition and construction job for a public building where the landscaped landfill was found to be contaminated from possible lack of appropriate supervision.
• Metra Commuter Rail – Professional engineering services for station reconstruction on electric Line, 43rd to 57th Streets, and 99th Street. KCG provides onsite construction management.
• Private Clients – Banks and Real Estate Developers – Environmental Sites Assessments, Phases I, II, and III for private sector clients. The successful outcomes to the No Further Action/Remediation (NFA/NFR) process facilitated by appropriate remediation planning and implementation and contact and correspondence with IEPA staff until completion of the NFR.
• Public Building Commission of Chicago – Environmental Sites Assessments, Phases I, II, and III, for Police District Facilities and other public structures.
• U.S. Navy NAVFAC Engineering Command Midwest – Historic Renovation of Building 1, Naval Station Great Lakes, Design Build, Indoor Air Quality Monitoring, Remediation Plan Design and Implementation of remediation and containment for renovation efforts in areas where Asbestos Containing Materials and Lead on Painted Surfaces are present.
• City of Chicago Department of Environment (CDOE) – Pritzker Park Environmental Site Assessments and NFR development. Phases I and II Assessments, site remediation, and application for a Letter of No Further Remediation from the Illinois EPA.
• Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA) –Phases I, II, III Environmental Site Assessments for the McCormick Place Expansion.
• City of Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) – South Lake Shore Drive reconstruction, soil characterization of landfill layers, sampling, and technical field support.
• Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) – Professional Engineering Design Services for the resurfacing of 122nd Street between Stony Island and Torrence Avenues; providing construction documents with drainage, utilities, marking, signing, and erosion control plans.
• Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) – Engineering and technical services for the realignment of the Harrison Curve, Green and Orange lines.
